It's been a long time, but I've decided to work out a new version of Facebook Albums. This will bring it up to speed with any Facebook API changes and WordPress. The plugin hasn't had any real work done since 3.5 came out. The main goal is to provide a better class at handling API interaction and hopefully more functionality.

After a few months I decided to give Facebook Albums some love. With 2.0.4 I implemented WordPress's caching mechanism to cache Facebook API responses for better performance. Will it never occurred to me about clearing said cache if the widget or that post updates.

Facebook Album 2.0.4 has just been released and fixes quite a few issues, hopefully resolving a lot of the little things that were wrong with the plugin. Missing Thumbnails. There was an issue with smaller images and not having the same number of thumbnails as larger images, which means the plugin was trying to display an imaginary image source.

My Facebook Album for WordPress has one major issue: performance. Each time a the plugin is loaded it polls the Facebook API for a response to parse the photos feed. I am going to integrate the caching method WordPress's RSS widgets use for caching Facebook's API response.

I just pushed Facebook Album 2.0.1 to WordPress.org. This should fix issues with getting the album ID for personal albums, along with the Show Album Title option not working, amongst a few other bug fixes.

I've been hard at work in the labs revamping the Facebook Album plugin for WordPress. Very soon you will be able to use a Facebook application to authenticate with the Facebook API.
