WordPress Toolbar

wordpress-toolbar-full Now that the dashboard menu has been introduced, there is the WordPress toolbar. The WordPress toolbar appears everywhere on your website as long as you are logged in. The toolbar makes it easier to access parts of the dashboard. Plugins can add items to this toolbar extending its functionality. For example: some SEO plugins add a rating icon into the toolbar, gauging the search value of post or pages content. The menu provides some useful shortcuts.

    Your site's name in the tool bar (illustrated in graphic) you will see a drop-down menu with useful links to your dashboard and site appearance [link to chapter about themes].
  • wordpress-nav-updatesUpdates button, which resembles a refresh button, is part of the updates notifications. It displays the number of updates available and clicking it takes you to the update page. [insert link to chapter about updating pages].
  • wordpress-toolbar-new+ New allows you to quickly add a new post, media item, page, user, or other custom items added to and supported by your WordPress website.
  • Edit / View button appears if you are viewing a post or page. This allows you to easily edit content you are viewing. When editing the content the button allows you to easily go back to the front-end of your website and view the content.
