Sample screenshot from my website's dashboard, don't worry about all the menu options we'll get into that later
The dashboard is your control panel - from here you admister the website. Chances are your WordPress site does not have a link where you can click to login - which is okay. When a site does not use public user accounts a login link for web administration can take up valuable template real estate space. While season WordPress users can remember off hand how to access the dashboard I recommend making a bookmark for quick access.
Logging In
To login into your WordPress dashboard go to
http://yourdomain.com/login or
http://yourdomain.com/wp-login.php. Both will go to the same location, it is merely a matter of your personal preference. The first URL simply redirects you to the
wp-login.php page.

You will see the login form - enter in your username and password. When your account was created you should have received an email with the username. This section assumes you either set the password on installation or that your web admin provided you with the account password set at creation.
Help! I never got a password or lost it! WordPress has a password recovery feature. Simply click on "Lost your password?" (
http://yourdomain.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword) to get started. All you need to do is enter either your username or email.
WordPress will send a link to the accounts email address to set up a new password.
After you have successfully logged in, you will be entered into your WordPress dashboard, your websites control panel.
Another way, and possibly faster, to access your dashboard is to bookmark that directly. That way if you are still logged in to your WordPress website, you will automatically be taken to your dashboard.

Again, two different URLs, same results. I have been using WordPress for years and have become accustomed to simply typing in
http://thedomain.com/wp-admin when accessing the WordPress dashboard for a site I am working on.
